These illustrations accompany different sections of the book and serve as visual references explaining various aspects of medieval Japanese culture and customs. As these images needed to be historically accurate, production necessitated extensive research into historical references. For ease of use, both in terms of publication and classroom use, they were all made in Illustrator, as vectorial images are very easily scalable.
